Over the past 40 years, voter registration has increased while voter turnout continues to decrease.
In 2004, about half (43.31%) of the voting age population chose not to vote.
The most common excuse for people who did not vote was that they were too busy/ they had a conflicting schedule.

stories:::
I’M TOO BUSY! The most popular answer to the question “Why didn’t you vote?” is “I was too busy.” Too busy with what? watching t.v.? facebook stalking? painting you nails? going out to dinner? I want to show the importance of that half an hour it takes to go vote, a vote that counts for the next four years. I want it to be very comical. I want to say what was more important than voting and show really stupid reasons not to vote. For example, I would show someone watching t.v., taking a nap, shopping, etc. Clearly, some people may have something really important to do so they can’t vote, but others should plan their schedule around voting. I want to have a poster that rubs this fact right in your face. Something really harsh and memorable to show the idea of, what is more important than voting?
THE OTHER HALF MAKES A BIG DIFERENCE. Despite greater registration due to governement outreach, the total voter turnout has continued to descrease. Over the past 40 years, voter registration has been increasing, however, voter turnout has been decreasing. I want to show that the other half matters because so many surveys show that one of the main reasons people chose not to vote is because they do not think their vote will matter or have any effect on the election. Due to this belief, half of our country does not take the time to go vote. I want to show that it does count by showing graphics, teams, objects, something that needs the other half. I want it to be very simple and clean, very obvious. For example I might have a bride with out a groom. Something with the obvious need for “the other half.”

project brief:::
The goal of this project is to find an interesting, random non-partison statistic about voting and create a visually eye-catching way to convey the statistic using a motion graphic. The motion graphic should be informative, attention-grabbing and easy to understand. The point is to get someone interested by using color, graphic images, sound, scale, etc. It should grab the attention and create interest for people who do not usually read about politics. The motion graphic should create an exciting experience where the viewer can sense, feel, and completely understand the data.
